As developer of the Gallup Building, Karchem Properties managed the design and construction of this upscale restaurant. Karchem coordinated design issues with the City's Historic Preservation Office and National Park Services as well as construction issues with the base building contractor. In anticipation of the opening, Karchem worked closely with the general manager to address operating and marketing requests.
Located on the ground floor of the historic Masonic Temple, the restaurant has 15' ceilings with tall windows along Ninth and F streets. The space features elaborate millwork, a cigar bar in a separate room, open cooking area, original murals and outdoor seating.
The design program called for fitting a complicated food and beverage operation into the historic Masonic Temple and restoring the historic storefronts. As required by the Historic Preservation Office, mahogany window trim and doors were installed on the exterior as well as granite bases for the bay windows.
